THE WALK OF LOVE INITIATIVE:

The Walk of Love Initiative is to bring food, personal items and health products to every child in Nashville’s most impoverished Housing Authority communities

during all five school breaks by the end of 2020. We are already off to a great start!

In most major cities in America, including Nashville, the State Housing Authorities house the largest communities of fatherless and at-risk children. In Nashville, the Housing Authority’s (MDHA) traditional Homes shown below represent our city’s most impoverished children and their households.

These homes house an alarming number of children

that rely on school breakfast and lunch programs to feed their hungry tummies.

So what happens when these kids go home

on the five school breaks (Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring and Summer)?

2,094 TOTAL HOUSEHOLDS!

OVER 10,000 PEOPLE!

MOSTLY CHILDREN!

HOW DO WE HELP THEM ALL?!

Our WALK OF LOVE INITIATIVE solves this problem:

    1. We partner with local companies, groups, churches, etc. to raise funds in simple non-intrusive ways.

    2. We obtain truckloads of food, personal care items and health products from mass suppliers.

    3. We unite a volunteer force to deliver these items door to door to the entire communities!

We already started with Napier-Sudekum, Nashvilles largest inner-city community! We delivered necessities to every household (over 3,200 people) on the 2019 FAll school break. We repeated this process for Thanksgiving school break on Saturday, November 23, 2019 and for Christmas school break on December 14, 2019. In 2020, we plan to grow to all of Nashville's Traditional Housing Authority communities shown above.
